Memorials and Tribute Gifts
Honor Someone Special With a Future Gift in Their Name
If you have a loved one who has been impacted by West Virginia State University, establishing a memorial or tribute gift is a meaningful way to honor them or celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary while supporting the University and our mission. Your memorial or tribute gift will not only honor them, but continue to make a difference in the lives of the students we serve.
An Example of How It Works
William and Marilyn Allen wanted to establish a student scholarship in loving memory of their granddaughter, Heather Marie Allen. Heather received a full scholarship to WVSU, where she majored in health and physical education with a minor in criminal justice. She played shortstop and was a star member of the Lady Yellow Jackets softball team and in 2001 she was named to the All-Conference team. She passed away in August 2001 just before her senior year. Heather’s memory lives on through the scholarship established in her name. Her grandparents secured her legacy with an outright cash gift and a provision for a planned gift in their wills.
