Fred D. Thomas Jr.
"College was really the beginning of me as an individual!"
Fred D. Thomas Jr. graduated from West Virginia State University (WVSU) in 1950 with a bachelor's degree in biology. After earning a graduate degree in education, he went on to serve as a middle school science teacher and curriculum coordinator for 35 years.
As a way to give back to his alma mater, Fred made a planned gift commitment to establish a learning center that will bear his name. The center will feature smart technology to support interactive online instruction as well as group activities and research tutorials.
During his lifetime, Fred will make annual distributions from his retirement funds to launch the center. An endowment established through a bequest will be used for ongoing programs of the center and for technology updates. Fred's generosity will help ensure that future generations of Yellow Jackets studying to be teachers have access to the latest high-tech tools while learning to lead the nation's classrooms.
